Knowledge First
We want you to have the book knowledge FIRST to prepare you for the HANDS ON TRAINING.
You cannot be a certified trainer without having hands on experience. It’s impossible! That is why we offer a Certificate of Completion from our online course.
To be a Certified Master Trainer we want you to have advanced hands on training, and to have worked in the dog training industry for at least one year. This can be in the form of taking on your own clients at a discounted rate, or working for a licensed trainer. Our hands on training is offered in three levels of three weeks hands on.
Step #1. Online Course
Your online course has 10 modules. There are workbooks with over 300 pages and tests. There are 10 books that are required reading. There are 11 more books that are suggested reading. In addition, each module contains videos. There is also a mentored version for people who want to get started early with video exchanges
COME AND TAKE A DOG TRAINING VACATION IN MUSIC CITY!
(All evenings are open and 1 day per week will be free to explore the city or the lakes and rivers)
Step #2 Certified Trainer (CT) 3 weeks
Basic family dog training. This course is hands on with up to 20 dogs. The trainee will get to go behind the scenes with the trainers and be hands on with training. The trainee will also get to sit in on actual lessons with clients both at the facility and at the clients home. All aspects of Level 1 and Level 2 Training will be covered. Problem Solving, Obedience, Manners, and Management will all be covered so that the trainee will be able to function as a base level trainer upon completion.
Step #3. Certified Apprentice Master Trainer (CAMT). 3 weeks
After the trainee has mastered the basics he/she can return for more advanced training. The trainer will be involved in training service dogs and therapy dogs, as well as learning how to start agility training, advanced obedience, and/or level 1 protection. The trainee will be involved in the service and therapy dog lessons, and outings. Rehab dogs will be worked with and discussed based upon what is in the kennel at the time.
Step #4. Certified Master Trainer (CMT) 3 weeks
After the trainee has worked in the industry for at least a year, he/she can return for Certified Master Trainer Certification. The one year experience can be working for clients or working for a trainer. This level includes business operations, sales training, advanced training of the type that the student is most interested in. This will be discussed prior to the start of the course in the case that the trainer would like to bring their own dog.
Trainers will have an opportunity but not a guarantee of becoming an affiliate or to purchase a Trademark License.

- The Alliance of K-9 Professionals will be involved in strategies to combat negative stereotypes of dogs or training practices online or in the media.
- The Alliance of K-9 Professionals will set up and sponsor training seminars on various subjects.
- The Alliance of K-9 Professionals will be involved in promoting positive legislation and responsible regulation for the training industry.
- The Alliance of K-9 Professionals will be involved in writing books and materials to distribute and promote the organization.
